Websites are hosted on special computers called servers. A web hosting service provider is a company that gives the technologies and services needed for your affiliate marketing website to exist on the internet.
I’ll be talking about what to look for in the hosting provider and give you my recommendations so you can get what you need. With so many blogs today most hosting providers compete on price so you can get excellent hosting for a low price.
When buying a web hosting some people just want to get the cheapest one, but going with the absolute cheapest is usually not be the best idea, because small prices usually come with less customer support and load times and you also need to check out uptime. But there are cost-effective hosting providers out there which I recommend you to check first.
Most hosting providers are going to give you pretty much a 99% uptime guarantee. It’s impossible for them to guarantee a 100% uptime as they will need to shut down the service from time to time for routine maintenance and upgrades but they should be very close to 100% uptime.
Your ideal hosting provider should be actively controlling downtime and giving you notifications during the extraordinary circumstance when they plan any maintenance.
You also should look for speed because loading speed is a ranking factor and if your visitors have to wait for a page to load they might click away and be gone forever. This is why it is often worth paying a bit more for fast hosting.
Look for cPanel as well. It’s just a Linux-based hosting control panel where you can manage your domain names and hosting. It’s not important at all, it’s a nice-to-have feature but not important.
And last but not least you should be looking for some strong customer support. Your website can stop working during server updates, or if anything happens you want to be sure that your website is in capable hands and you want to be able to get in touch with your hosting company in your preferred way. Support should be available 24/7 either on the phone, email or live chat.
Recommended Hosting Providers
Below you can find my suggestions for reliable and cheap hosting providers.
I’ve decided to talk about DreamHost first. They offer 14 different plans for web hosting that could be interesting for beginners and intermediate users.
- WordPress Basic hosting, with Starter and Unlimited plans
- DreamPress for WordPress, with DreamPress and DreamPress Plus plans
- VPS for WordPress, with Basic, Business and Professional plans
- Shared hosting, with Starter and Unlimited plans
- Dreampress hosting, with Plus and Pro plans
- VPS Basic hosting, with Business, Professional and Enterprise plans
They also have cloud and dedicated hosting plans but this isn’t for you yet. I’m going to be focusing on their shared hosting plans because as a beginner you don’t need any other more expensive plan.
Basically, shared hosting means that your website will share a server with other websites. This is the cheapest way to have a website.
DreamHost offers two packages of shared hosting, shared starter and shared unlimited. My recommendation for most people is to go with shared unlimited because starter includes only one website and you’d have to pay additional if you want to add email. The unlimited plan enables unlimited websites and email which would be useful for your business for a lower price.
For the price at 5.95$ a month or a bit over 71 dollars a year for the shared unlimited Dreamhost is pretty cheap and if you don’t like them, they do have a refund policy. According to their website, Dreamhost offers a full refund on shared hosting if you cancel your plan within 97 days of opening the account.
If you prefer monthly payments, you’ll have to pay 10.95$ per month for an unlimited plan, or 4.95$ for the starter plan.
When it comes to uptime, due to their data center locations, redundant cooling emergency generators, and constant monitoring DreamHost is so confident in their uptime so they offer a 100% uptime guarantee. A failure to provide a 100% uptime result in compensation to the customers.
If their service becomes unusable as a result of Dreamhost systems failures you will receive a DreamHost credit proportional to your current hosting costs for one day of service for each hour of a service break.
When it comes to speed according to their website, connection speeds associated with DreamHost services represent the maximum possible speed. DreamHost does not guarantee you will achieve the maximum connection speed at all times as this depends on a combination of circumstances including your own internet connection. You can also check out some of the user reviews about DreamHost load times because they’re mainly positive.
DreamHost doesn’t support Cpanel. Instead, they have their own custom DreamHost control panel.
If you look at their support, DreamHost has support available 24 hours a day via email or live chat available from 5:30 am till 9:30 pm.
You also have an option to request a call back from technical support but callbacks are not included with any standard hosting package. You can, however, add one or three callbacks per month to your account for a small monthly fee.
DreamHost uses solid-state drives on their shared VPS plans to give you improved speed and reliability. If you want to use a discount on DreamHost and try it yourself make sure you click this link below.
Have you used them in the past? If so what was your experience? Let me know in the comments.
A2 Hosting Review
A2 Hosting is one of the fastest web hosting providers that are available right now.
Do you already have a website?
Well, guys from A2 will move your websites from your old web hosting provider to A2 hosting completely free of charge. Other providers like Bluehost charge as much as $150 per website transfer and A2 hosting just does it for free. And this is an awesome feature, especially if you already have a website but you’re a bit uncomfortable with the idea of moving it somewhere else. Because there is some work involved and there’s always the possibility that something might break leaving your website not functioning.
But the great thing about these free migrations is that you can just hand over your website to A2 hosting experts and they’ll do everything for you free of charge.
While most providers offer a 30-day money-back guarantee or even a 90-day money-back guarantee A2 hosting goes a step further. They are offering anytime money-back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose here.
This makes A2 hosting one of the safest choices if you’re just looking for a web hosting provider to test the waters with since they move your existing website to their servers for free and they give you an unlimited amount of time to get a refund.
The price of A2 hosting cheapest plan is usually $7.99 a month you can use the link at the end of this review to get 63% off your purchase and get that price down to just $2.96 a month. All plans with A2 hosting include a free SSL certificate and a free Cloudflare account to make your website faster and safer.
However, you do not get a free domain with any of their plans. You will need to buy that separately and I’ll suggest visiting Godaddy for that.
A2 hosting offers something called the turbo plans. These turbo plans have extra built-in optimizations for WordPress that are activated automatically when you install the WordPress client through A2 hosting. A2 hosting turbo plans operate on better hardware and they’re currently the fastest shared web hosting plans you can get anywhere.
But just because they’re the fastest it doesn’t mean that you need to buy them. For most users, these Swift plans will do just fine. And you can install some optimization plugins yourself almost simulating the turbo plans.
With A2 hosting you will be able to install WordPress with just one click automatically no matter which plan you choose and that’s a very useful feature if you’re just a beginner.
You also get access to their business emails. Creating a business email is super simple you can do it through the cPanel that A2 hosting has and your business emails will use the same domain name that your website is using.
If you want to have the fastest possible website for the lowest cost then I would definitely recommend A2 hosting and if you just want to ask me something feel free to do that in the comments down below. I’ll read and answer all of your comments.
InterServer Hosting Review
Interserver is probably the best hosting company that you’ve maybe never heard about.
What immediately stands out is that the Interserver only offers one shared hosting plan. There is no starter or medium or pro plans, just one size fits all type of solution. You’ll get unlimited bandwidth and storage, weekly backups, unlimited email accounts, and a free SSL certificate.
Interserver also offers something they call the price lock guarantee. That means if you buy web hosting for 4$ a month you will be paying 4 $ a month until you cancel.
You’ll be also getting a free Cloudflare CDN, intershield security, proxy caching, and email accounts with guaranteed email delivery. They will also migrate your website for free and give you a 30-day money-back guarantee. When buying your Interserver package you won’t get a free domain name and this will cost you an extra 1.99$.
Interserver is the company that focuses on users and performance first and their marketing and design departments are a bit behind.
They allow monthly billing without an increase in price and you can cancel at any time you want.
They’re also a good choice for long term web hosting if you’re moving from another provider with an existing project since again they don’t increase the price upon renewal and they will migrate your site for free so you can have your project hosted within the good company for a low price.
I strongly recommend you check out Interserver as one of the possible options to move your website.
